The island is roughly in the shape of an arrow head, with the arrows tip pointing almost due north. It is high and dry with hundreds of coconut palms. There are two natural sand beaches one on the west and one on the east. There are several other indigenous trees besides Palms and a small fringe of mangrove trees on the southern 1/3 of the island. There are many types of birds including pelicans, frigate, cormorant, osprey, and even occasional albatross. Also many colorful finches and butterflies migrate across the island. No large animals inhabit any of the islands of Belize. Yet there are many types of crab, lizards, and even Black Iguanas. The bulk of the island is full sand and low brush between the swaying palms.

Round Caye is located 16 miles north east of Placencia, the hottest tourist destination in southern Belize. From Placencia there are almost 100 different eco-day trips available! Including river, cave, jungle and Mayan Ruin exploration. Not to mention horseback riding, waterfalls, zip-line jungle canopy trips and more! The Placencia Peninsula is the nearest embarkation point on the mainland of Belize- only a short boat ride away, ranging from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on weather conditions.
