Nestled adjacent to the foothills of the Maya Mountains three miles off the Southern Highway, on the road to Mayflower-Bocawaina National Park, is located 18.5 acres of scenic forested land bordered along the length by a beautiful free flowing, year round river that could be used for hydroelectric power generation. Approximately 3 acres has been cleared into full grass on three levels; river, lower meadow and upper meadow. The three wooden Cabanas mark the beginning of what could be an eco tourist resort; or a conference or retreat centre, or for as little as US$ 2000 the buildings can be relocated, by the manufacturers, into a “U” shaped house providing over 2000 sq ft of domestic accommodation. The internal studwork walls can be easily re-located for individual taste.
All three buildings are constructed to high standards using local hardwood. The main building is a 18’ x 36’ structure with two bedrooms, a large shower room accessible from each bedroom, a cathedral ceilinged living and covered external balcony, on the upper floor and two store rooms on the lower floor. The second building is 18’ x 30’ and is designed to be a kitchen pantry and utility room, with a separate building for the restaurant to be added. The third building is 16’ x 26’ designated for guest accommodation and includes 2 double bedrooms with separate shower rooms (unfitted); two additional buildings of this nature were planned. All buildings have been wired for air-conditioning.The property is supplied with potable water from a 38’well and the main building has a large 12’x 10’septic tank and an additional soak-away. Access to the site is via an all weather, graded roadway.
Small finds of Mayan artefacts (broken crystal cutting blades, broken pottery etc) have been found on site and there are Mayan mounds within the adjacent National Park, with walks into the mountains with views of two spectacular waterfalls. The location is less than 15 miles from Dangriga, the largest town in southern Belize with a local airport with regular daily direct flights to Belize international airport. Approximately 55 miles from the national capitol of Belmopan a little over 100 miles from Belize City it is readily accessible to the country’s many tourist attractions including the offshore cayes and barrier reef, the rainforest is next door with the Maya mountains beyond. It is about 12 miles from the entrance to the Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary, the Western Hemispheres only Jaguar preserve.
